Day: Addressing Local Traffic Congestion is My Transportation Priority

August 6, 2025

MACUNGIE – State Rep. Gary Day (R-Lehigh) today identified the ongoing traffic congestion issues plaguing a portion of the 187th Legislative District as his transportation priority in the district and reaffirmed his commitment to working with state and local officials to identify and pursue long-term solutions.

“Many residents have reached out to me with concerns about traffic congestion, particularly in the area of Hamilton Boulevard and Brookside Road, as well as along the traffic corridor containing U.S. Route 222, Interstate 78 and State Route 309 near Dorney Park,” said Day. “These are concerns I share as I’ve driven these roads myself and experienced the same delays and backups.”

Day has met with representatives of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and has had conversations with local officials and involved parties about the issue, with the goal being to work collaboratively to move toward effective, long-term improvements.

“This area contains the intersection of state, federal and local roadways,” Day said. “We have traffic from Dorney Park, retail development, the Pennsylvania Turnpike and constituent residences, all converging in this area. I’m working to create a transportation infrastructure plan to handle the traffic volume created by all of these interested parties.

“I want residents to know their voices are being heard. I’ve taken their concerns directly to PennDOT and local leaders, and I will continue advocating for the transportation needs of our community.”
