Day: Efforts to Address 187th District Traffic Concerns Continue
September 18, 2025
MACUNGIE – State Rep. Gary Day (R-Lehigh) provided an update regarding the ongoing efforts to address traffic congestion issues plaguing an area of the 187th Legislative District.
“I recently met with representatives of Dorney Park/Six Flags and during that meeting, park officials expressed their interest in finding a solution and shared with me their ideas about improvements to make Dorney Park more easily accessible and safe,” said Day.
Many residents have reached out to Day with concerns about traffic congestion, particularly in the area of Hamilton Boulevard and Brookside Road, as well as along the traffic corridor containing U.S. Route 222, Interstate 78 and State Route 309. After surveying the 187th District during the first few months of his term, Day identified that area as the top traffic problem in the district.
Having a good relationship with the professionals of Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 5, Day is committed to working with them, local officials and interested parties to find and pursue long-term solutions.
“I intend to work collaboratively with them to advocate for transportation infrastructure that will handle the needs of our area well into the future,” Day said.
